Omar SAYED

Following an article published in the newspaper « Al-Akhbar » on July 2, 2015, the artist Omar Sayed, one of the pioneers of Ghiwanite music, surprised those close to him with his decision to rebury his daughter, « Siham », who passed away five years ago and whose body had been interred at the Chouhada Cemetery in Casablanca.

« When my daughter Siham passed away, I was in a state of deep confusion following the shock of her death. As a result, I buried her in a remote area of the Chouhada Cemetery, without placing her in a coffin. However, after all this time, I decided to rebury her in another location within the same cemetery, closer to the paved road, in order to facilitate access for visitors. Moreover, her new resting place is adjacent to the graves of prominent figures and saints ».

Omar Sayed stated that the reburial process was carried out in the presence of the relevant authorities and forensic services, and that it coincided with the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.

« When my daughter Siham’s body was exhumed, I was surprised to find that nothing had changed. She remained exactly as she had been buried five years earlier, with the same features, as if she had been laid to rest that very day ».

« Today, I feel as though my daughter is sleeping at home. I sensed that she was happy and content with me. She truly deserves all goodness, and I ask her forgiveness for my delay and for not having taken the initiative to rebury her at the appropriate time ».
